An Abundance of Katherines, by John Green

sooOOO i went shopping on wednesday and i finally bought my own copy of katherines (and paper towns) and yeah so im not sure what else to write

Summary:

so basically theres this boy named colin singleton and he is a child prodigy (he knows everything- and i mean everything. literally. just read the book)  and he has a thing for girls named katherine. he has been dumped exactly 19 times, and each time he was dumped by a different girl, and each time the girls name was katherine. so with the end of the relationship with katherine the 19th, colin decides to go on a road trip to clear his brain or whatever because he is so devastated and he cannot for the life of him explain why his katherines keep dumping him. so with his best friend hassan, he goes to a tiny little town called gutshot tennessee  because he heard that the archduke franz ferdinand (whos assasination began world war I) was buried there (he wasnt) and there he meets a girl named lindsey lee wells (who happens also to be dating a boy jerk named colin) and there he becomes friends with her and he stays with her and he gets a job interviewing the citys residents who work in a factory and i am not going to say what that factory produces but if you want to you can google it. so while he is there he is a) becoming closer to lindsey and b) trying to develop a formula to graph a relationship and figure out (finally) why he keeps getting dumped by girls named katherine. then hassan ends up going out with the hottest girl in the entire town, and then sees her with lindseys boyfriend colin so he dumps her and lindsey dumps colin and ends up with our colin (colin singleton) and then they find out that the factory is not making enough money so they are burrying half their product and keeping everyone employed. and colin also learns that the future is unpredictable.

so in the end his formula looked like this :
and yeah
its beautiful okay just read the book.

My overall opinion:

27462837491284/10 i loved it so much oiwaehflviuedsjholqiawefhlucisdho8i;OWIEUFVH;ODSIJK and yeah i really liked lindsey and hassan they were soo funny and TOC irritated me a lot and idk the book was just really good but i liked looking for alaska a little better. but it was still really good and i think colin is the only main character that ive ever related to so much like ewiofhdvilujfdscikjsvdfnoriwgh.vkfd we even worry about the same things and like idk it was really good i like colin but not as much as i like augustus waters but i am nothing like augustus but i feel like colin and i would have gotten along really well but i dont ship myself and colin cuz i ship him with lindsey and anyway i ship myself with someone else. so.

and temporarily heres a picture of the cover i will edit this so that it is a picture of my copy once i get home but for now:

i think this is the fan designed one but im not for 100% sure

The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey

okay so josh let me borrow this book and i wasnt going to read it at first but then i was like why not so i did and now it is 8:40 on a saturday night and i have just finished this book and i have decided to blog about it.
what does that say about me
that speaks volumes
it is a saturday night on a 6 day weekend
i need a life
but anyway you probably dont want to hear about my life (or lack of one) so yeah

Summary:

so basically what happened is there are these aliens, and they are invading earth and  they invaded in waves so the first wave was that all the electronics broke, the second was an earthquake/tidal wave, the third was a disease carried by birds that basically killed you and made blood come out of your eyes and nose, and the fourth was that the aliens could inhabit peoples bodies. so all these have happened and cassie is alone and being stalked by an alien in a persons body. her brother is being held captive by these people, and with him is benjamin parish, the boy that cassie kind of sort of had a thing for before.. you know... the alien apocalypse. so she ends up falling in love with the alien in the persons body who happens to be stalking her and she is simultaneously still having her kind of sort of thing for benjamin parish who did not even know she existed and in fact did not recognize her when she succeeded in rescuing sammy (her brother) from the aliens. but while cassie was making out with evan and looking for sammy, ben a) became very close to her brother and b) became very close to another girl named Ringer and im not exacly sure who ends up with whom. and this summary is pretty short and it leaves out a lot of stuff but its basically the story

My Overall Opinion:

6/10 it was pretty good but it was basically a combination of enders game and the host. it was pretty well written and the story was interesting ish but most of the time i couldnt even tell where it was going. i didnt like that in the beginning she basically let a man die because he wasnt ben parish and then later when she meets up with ben theyre running away from some aliens and he offers her his hand and she goes im not sure if i would have taken it if it was anyone elses. like nO THIS IS AN ALIEN APOCALYPSE THIS IS NOT THE TIME OR PLACE TO BE THINKING ABOUT THIS KIND OF SORT OF THING YOU HAD FOR THIS BOY WHO DIDNT EVEN KNOW YOU EXISTED.  pretty much cassies never ending obsession with ben parish bothered me the whole time and just in general she was so irritating. i liked ringer a lot because of this scene (when she was first introduced):

When i look up again, she's heading for the showers with a towel thrown over her shoulder. She pauses at the door. "if anybody in this squad touches me, ill kill them."
there's nothing menacing or funny about the way she says it. as if shes stating a fact, like its cold outside.
"ill spread the word," i say
"and when im in the shower, off limits. total privacy."
"roger that. anything else?"
i shake my head. holler at the boys, "any of you pervs play chess?"
"No," flint calls back, "but if shes in the mood for some strip poker-"
it happens before i can get two inches off the mattress; flint on the ground, holding his throat, kicking his legs like a stomped on bug, Ringer standing over him.
"also no demeaning, sexist, pseudo-macho remarks"

LIKE YOU GO GIRL HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE HER SHES THE ONLY GIRL IN THE SQUAD AND SHES BETTER WITH A GUN THAN ALL THE BOYS COMBINED AND SHE KNOWS IT AND SHE IS NOT INTIMIDATED BY THEM AT ALL

she reminded me a lot of alaska from looking for alaska by john green but more... you know... alien apocalypse - y

yeah so thats basically it. and heres the cover:

its pretty ish but it doesnt say anything about the book like it could be a modern rendition of red riding hood or it could be a romeo juliet story and you wouldnt be able to tell

Gone, by Michael Grant

yeah so i know i did my blog presentation on this (and made a complete idiot out of myself but its okay because most of you already know that im an idiot and if you dont then wow look at that you learned something today) but i want to do a post on it to so im going to cuz this is my blog dont tell me what to do so yeah basically this book is called gone and its by michael grant and its the first book in a series of 6 (gone hunger lies plague fear light) and maryam introduced me to these books and theyre soo amazing but theyre not very deep and metaphorical in a john green kind of a way its more like a hunger games kind of a way but slightly less but similar. and itS KIND OF HARD TO SHIP THINGS WHEN EVERYONE IS DEAD (hehe all my friends are dead) (literally) (ohmYGOD WHAT HAVE I DONE THAT WAS HORRIBLE IM CRYING NO THAT JOKE WAS NOT WORTH THE FEELS OH DEAR)
but anyway if you dont want to read the whole thing just skip to the end and answer the questions okay bc im curious

Summary:

so basically what happens is theres this tiny little town called perdido beach and it has a nuclear power plant but sometimes people call it fallout alley because earlier a meteor hit the plant and a bunch of radiation leaked into the ground and what happens is magically everyone over the age of 15 pops out of the town and everyone under the age of 15 is trapped in this dome that surrounds the town. but once you turn 15 you have the choice to pop out or not but at first no one knew where you went so that was a difficult decision. so the animals and people are both mutating and developing powers and abnormalities and stuff like that  (which is one reason why i like this book so much cuz genetic mutation makes a super interesting sci fi story) and they call the dome the FAYZ (fallout alley youth zone) but its mostly about this boy sam and his girlfriend astrid and they have to put in place a government and organize all the kids and plan all this stuff. astrids little brother pete, who is autistic, probably had something to do with it all and he may have caused it but they dont know how. but anyway so the bullies are beating up kids, people are starving, theres no food or water or electricity or wifi or anything and they have to figure out 1) why everyone is mutating 2) how to stay alive with all the stuff happening 3) how to feed like 600 kids who dont want to work 4) what did little pete have to do with it 5) how do they get out 6) why did it happen in the first place and probably lots more stuff.
but anyway i am going to make this helpful little list here of names and what power they have.

  • Sam can shoot beams of light out of his palms
  • Caine - telekinesis
  • Lana can heal any wound
  • Brianna can run super fast like speed-of-a-bullet fast
  • Taylor can teleport
  • Diana can read peoples powers to see how powerful they are
  • Dekka can turn gravity on or off
  • Bug can camouflage with his environment like a chameleon
  • Hunter can like direct heat and concentrate it in one place
  • andrew can like shoot shock waves from his hands that break concrete and stuff
  • Computer Jack has super strength
  • astrid can like view peoples importance ?? i dont really understand her power
  • Orsay can view peoples dreams
  • Brittney can regenerate so shes like incapable of dying
  • Duck can control his density so like he can float in air or sink in water if he wants
  • Emily can do what taylor does but she can take people with her
  • Penny can create illusions and make people see things that arent really there
  • Jill can sing and her voice is supposed to distract you and when she tells you to do something youre going to do it
  • and then little pete and gaia have most of these but to a much greater extent
and yeah so caine and all the kids from coates academy want to rule over everyone but likea dictatorship so sam has to battle him and

SPOILERS

sam and caine are brothers *gasp* but anyway yeah. so thats basically what happens.

Favorite Character:

hey look i started a new section and thats cuz there are some characters that youre so incredibly in love with that itS NOT FAIR WHY ARENT THEY REAL
but anwyay i guess it would be edilio because hes misunderstood and hes sad inside and hes so considerate and nice and people are so mean to him and awwww and also hes hilarious and also hes gay which only makes me love him more

My overall opinion:

10/10 but you have to be okay with blood and guts so yeah.
it was super amazing and its so interesting and the story is unique and complicated and addicting and its amazing like asdfghjkl; and like i said genetic mutation is super interesting so yeah and the characters are well developed bUT MOST OF THEM DIE SO IT DOESNT EVEN MATTER (like trust me veronica, joanne, suzanne, rick, and all the other authors i complain about look like saints compared to this guy) but its amazing like its well written and interesting and action - y and it has some romance but its not forced or like drowning in it or anything. the ending of the series bothered me a little but it was like the characters bothered me and they did what they should have done and what they would have done in that situation but like they were annoyyiinnggg. it was expected of them but it still annoyed me so i wasnt annoyed at michael grant (like i was annoyed at veronica at the end of allegiant when she tried to make tobias and christina a thing i was lIKE STAHP IT UGH) but what happens is that all the parents just assume theyre going to be emotionally and mentally okay after having dealt with that for months and killed so many people and seen so much terrible stuff like i was not okay after reading about it imagine having to ACTUALLY BE PART OF IT WUIEKFJDS.

and heres the cover (i would have posted a picture of mine but i left it in my locker so too bad youre stuck with an image from google)

but this is a pretty cool thing that someone made and this is all the books:

but anyway i have some questions for you that are actually pretty interesting to think about and they areeee:

  • if you could have any of these powers which one would you want
  • if you were in sam or astrids or edilios or alberts situation and you turned 15 would you leave or stay (bc like you feel some responsibility to help all the people who arent so fortunate that they can leave but at the same time the FAYZ is horrible and you want to leave)

Every Day by David Levithan

so basically i read this book like a long time ago and it was really good but no one else likes it but i did so im just gonna blog about it anyway because i dont really care

summary:

so basically its about this person (soul??? spirit??? im not really sure) but they dont have a body, so they wake up in a different body every day. and basically its about like he (im just gonna call him he because the main part of the story is when hes a guy but sometimes hes a girl too and yeah) meets this girl rhiannon once when hes in her boyfriend justins body but her boyfriend is kind of a crappy boyfriend and he yells and hits her and stuff but he wasnt always like that but he is now so anyway then he is really nice to her and then he feels bad because he knows justin wont be a good boyfriend and shell get her hopes up that hes changed so later on he decides to tell her the truth and then she tries to be in a relationship with him but it doesnt work so then he just like runs away and every day of his entire life from now on hes just gonna keep traveling in one direction with no regard for the persons life what so ever

theres nothing else to write except my overall opinion sooooooooooooooo

my overall opinion:

8/10 it was reeaallyy good but the story was eh and i didnt like how it ended and i  thought he sHOULD HAVE ENDED UP WITH RHIANNON BECAUSE SHE IS SOO CUTE AND JUSTIN WAS A JERRRKKK. but it was incrediibllyy well written i loved it. it was like super deep and stuff but like while the story was original and it was interesting i feel like he could have done a lot more with it than what he did in the book. i really like the concept of the story though. and also like how can he just ignore everything in everyones lives and just run away and the next morning leave them to wake up hundreds of miles from their house with no idea how they got there like THAT IS NOT NICE NO YOU CANNOT DO THAT. i feel like he should have just continued to try and make their lives as normal as possible without making it harder for himself to let go and yeah. also i think he should have given us more chapters in other peoples lives because i found that more interesting than the actual plot itself.

and heres the cover:

i saw this on tumblr

i literally had to stop and re evaluate my entire life ohmygosh

some of my favorite quotes

okay so there are some incredibly genius people in the world and some of them get famous and they get their words framed on walls and repeated over and over and over and usually that happens for a reason (that reason being that those words are kind of perfect descriptions of something or they have some deep metaphorical meaning or something along those lines) and a lot of those quotes are about reading because reading has existed for a very long time and so people talk about it a lot and generally it is socially acceptable for famous people to say good things about books and a lot of the time those words about are said by people who write books too and anyway enough rambling (im not even 100% sure that what im writing makes sense because im listening to music (if anyone cares its The Best Day by Taylor Swift) while iim writing this so please excuse any errors, grammatical or otherwise.

so anyway this is a list of just a few amazingly geniusly accurate or beautiful quotes said by famous people

*side note* im like 3896% sure that there are other equally genius things said by not famous people that no one knows because said person is not famous and that is tragic but theres nothing we can do about it so oh well.

anyway back to the list.

“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies, said Jojen. The man who never reads lives only one.”
― George R.R. Martin, A Dance with Dragons

(yes this is the one in my side bar too)

“You're never alone when you're reading a book.”
― Susan Wiggs

“Maybe this is why we read, and why in moments of darkness we return to books: to find words for what we already know.”
― Alberto Manguel, A Reading Diary: A Passionate Reader's Reflections on a Year of Books

“I go back to the reading room, where I sink down in the sofa and into the world of The Arabian Nights. Slowly, like a movie fadeout, the real world evaporates. I'm alone, inside the world of the story. My favourite feeling in the world.”
― Haruki Murakami, Kafka on the Shore

“But, how do you know if an ending is truly good for the characters unless you've traveled with them through every page?”
― Shannon Hale, Midnight in Austenland

“Maybe reading was just a way to make her feel less alone, to keep her company. When you read something you are stopped, the moment is stayed, you can sometimes be there more fully than you can in your real life.”
― Helen Humphreys, Coventry

“I see all of us reading ourselves away from ourselves, straining in circles of light to find more light until the line of words becomes a trail of crumbs that we follow across a page of fresh snow...”
― Billy Collins, Sailing Alone Around the Room: New and Selected Poems

“Sometimes, you read a book and it fills you with this weird evangelical zeal, and you become convinced that the shattered world will never be put back together unless and until all living humans read the book…… And then there are books like An Imperial Affliction, which you can’t tell people about, books so special and rare and yours that advertising your affection feels like a betrayal.”
-John Green, The Fault In Our Stars

“So many books, so little time.”
― Frank Zappa

“Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.”
― Neil Gaiman, Coraline

“If one cannot enjoy reading a book over and over again, there is no use in reading it at all.”
― Oscar Wilde

“There is no friend as loyal as a book.”
― Ernest Hemingway

“What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though.”
― J.D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye

“Books are the ultimate Dumpees: put them down and they’ll wait for you forever; pay attention to them and they always love you back.”
― John Green, An Abundance of Katherines

Literature is my Utopia. Here I am not disenfranchised. No barrier of the senses shuts me out from the sweet, gracious discourses of my book friends. They talk to me without embarrassment or awkwardness.

–Swedish Proverb

A book is the only place in which you can examine a fragile thought without breaking it.

–Edward P. Morgan

All good books are alike in that they are truer than if they had really happened and after you are finished reading one you will feel that all that happened to you and afterwards it all belongs to you: the good and the bad, the ecstasy, the remorse and sorrow, the people and the places and how the weather was.

–Ernest Hemingway

Books support us in our solitude and keep us from being a burden to ourselves.

–Jeremy Collier

Where is human nature so weak as in the bookstore?

–Joseph Brodsky

You know you’ve read a good book when you turn the last page and feel a little as if you have lost a friend.

Every reader finds himself. The writer’s work is merely a kind of optical instrument that makes it possible for the reader to discern what, without this book, he would perhaps never have seen in himself.

– Marcel Proust

No book is really worth reading at the age of ten which is not equally – and often far more – worth reading at the age of fifty and beyond.

–C.S. Lewis

A man may as well expect to grow stronger by always eating as wiser by always reading.

–Jeremy Collier

It’s not just the books under fire now that worry me. It is the books that will never be written. The books that will never be read. And all due to the fear of censorship. As always, young readers will be the real losers.

–Judy Blume

If there is a book that you want to read, but it hasn’t been written yet, you must be the one to write it.

–Toni Morrison
(COUGH FANFICTION COUGH COUGH)

A good book has no ending.

–R.D. Cumming

There is something about words. In expert hands, manipulated deftly, they take you prisoner. Wind themselves around your limbs like spider silk, and when you are so enthralled you cannot move, they pierce your skin, enter your blood, numb your thoughts. Inside you they work magic.

hashtag throwback thursday

sooooooooooooooooooooooo today in honor of throwback thursday (which i know is tomorrow but im posting it today because theres no time like the present and ill probably forget about it by tomorrow and im also avoiding studying for my physics test) im going to be talking about some books that literally were my entire childhood (no im not a child anymore ive seen read too many people characters i love die for me to still be a child) and yeah i loved these books so much omg and theyre not necessarily "kid" books but they're just books i read a long time ago and yeah so here you go

  1. Harry Potter gets a place on this list because i read it in the second grade and i loved it so much but then i re read it in the 6th grade and thats when i started really fangirling over it but i still fangirled in 2nd grade but i didnt really know how to fangirl or what a fangirl was but i loved the books anyway
  2. Percy Jackson because i read the lightning thief in 3rd grade and i loved it with my entire soul and ive read all the books so many times and i love them so much but like harry potter i didnt understand the true geniusness ingenuity of the author until like 6th grade because i was a child and i did not understand and i also was not capable of shipping (even though i shipped ronmione in second grade and i threw the book across the room when krum asked hermione to the dance thingy in the goblet of fire but i am talking about the wrong book right now so)
  3. Warriors by Erin Hunter (thats a pseudonym by the way its actually like 4 authors but the main one is victoria holmes) ohmygosh i loved these books so much its not even funny i think this was the first thing i officially fangirled over and i knew all the characters names and everything and i shipped them and i memorized literally every book and i had all the special editions and i preordered the books like months before they came out and once i dragged my mom to changing hands bookstore at like 10 pm on a weekday to meet victoria holmes and she signed 3 of my books and it was awesome and so anyway these books are basically about these cats that live in a forest and they live in clans and theres all these prophecies and secret plans to kill other cats and it was awesome i still reread these books and they are perfect theres like 40 books but omfg
  4. the penderwicks series was so funny omg i loved those books basically its about 4 sisters and they do a bunch of stupid things
  5. Children of the lamp series - i dont really remember much about it but it was good
  6. may bird series - i only remember that it was sERIOUSLY THE CREEPIEST JF BOOK I HAVE EVER READ LIKE IT GAVE ME NIGHTMARES AND IT WAS SO SCARY OHMYGOSH
  7. a little princess because it was good okay dont judge me i read old books too.
  8. matilda because ROALD DAHL
  9. little women because feminism
  10. the mysterious benedict society because it was super cool okay
  11. inkheart but it got really confusing at the end
  12. enid blyton (like all of her books) but shes british and no one knows her except usha and naina
  13. little house on the praire- i read allllll the boooks and i think reading those taught me the meaning of patience because the library neevverr had all of them and yeah
and theres probably a lot more (i read a lot when i was little too) but since i can't remember any of them this is all you get today.

^look its matilda

Allegiant, by Veronica Roth, Divergent Book 3

okay so allegiant came out last week and i read it (even thought some peole cough +Ryanna C. cough cough spoiled the enTIRE BOOK FOR ME) and lets just say my tears could have filled MULTIPLE swimming pools. anyway this entire post will be a spoiler (thats why i waited so long to do this review) (jk i was actually just lazy but whatever because it worked out well anyway) so if you havent read the book dont read past the background info.

Background Info:

so basically where insurgent left off was that they watched the video of Edith Prior telling them that they were all part of a big experiment and now that there were enough divergent they needed to come save the outside world from humanity itself. but before all of that, a loooott of very complicated stuff happens involving numerous lies (cough cough tRIS cough cough cough) (why would you do that to poor tobias ALL HE EVER WANTED WAS FOR YOU TO BE HONEST WITH HIM COME ONE ARE YOU SERIOUS) but basically riGHT AFTER FOUR TELLS HER SHES BEING RECKLESS WITH HER LIFE, GUESS WHAT SHE DOES? YUP THATS RIGHT. SHE GOES AND GIVES HERSELF UP TO THE ERUDITE (yeah tris really started to bother me in this book but its okay because she was going through a lot) and she finds out that Caleb was working for Jeanine (like really caleb????? WHYYYY??!?!?!?!) but after that, the dauntless ally with the factionless, but then tris talks to marcus, who tells her that her parents died for some information that Erudite would do anything to keep hidden, and like the stupid little girl she is  she agrees to work with him without eVEN TELLING FOUR NEVER MIND THAT MARCUS IS FOUR'S ABUSIVE FATHER WHO ALSO HAPPENS TO BE THE VERY REASON THAT FOUR LEFT ABNEGATION. (as you might imagine that didnt go down very well with four) but they go to erudite, tori kills jeanine, and they expose the information (that is the video of edith prior)

Ship update: (yay its been a while since ive done one of these)

  • well first and foremost there's Fourtris which i ship with evERY MOLECULE IN MY ENTIRE BODY AND I WILL GO DOWN WITH THIS SHIP (oh wait i aLREADY DID) (wonderful im crying all over my laptop now) but they're going through some troubles right now because trIS JUST CANNOT BE HONEST WITH FOUR AND I DONT UNDERSTAND TRIS WHY (i mean it was necessary but stillll the emotional pain) but they still love each other very much so its okay theyll work it out (or wiLL THEY)
  • Will and christina - hhahahahahahahhah jk will is DEAD CUZ TRIS KILLED HIM what who's crying im not crying or anything
  • Uriah and Marlene - hahahaHAHAHHAHAHAHAH *forced laughter* guess what marlene is ALSO DEAD (and guess what happens in allegiant you'll never guess)
  • Zeke and Shauna - she's paralyzed from the waist down but zeke still loves her and they're still together
  • evelyn and marcus - hahahahahahahahahahah *starts singing taylor swift* WEEEE ARE NEVER EVER EVERRRR GETTING BACK TOGETHER (why did i even include them no one ships them)

DONT READ BEYOND THIS POINT IF YOU'RE PLANNING ON READING THE BOOK OKAY DONT SAY I DIDNT WARN YOU YOU'RE GOING TO REGRET IT I SWEAR

Deaths: (ive never had to do one of these but veronica roth is just so cruel and she kills sO MANY PEOPLE SWEET JESUS) so i made a list of people who die (just in this book)

  • Tori - she's shot while they're escaping to the outside and the moST HEARTBREAKING THING IS THAT GEORGE (HER BROTHER WHO SHE ALWAYS THOUGHT WAS DEAD) WAS WAITING FOR HER OUTSIDE AND SHE DIED WITHOUT EVER KNOWING HE WAS ACTUALLY ALIVE AND HE NEVER SAW HER ASDFGHJKL;
  • Uriah - he was killed when four allied with this irritating little girl named Nita and she tried to steal some serum from them but four didnt know that what nita was doing was bad but tris did and she tried tO TELL HIM BUT GOSH DIDDLY DARN IT FOUR WHY COULDNT YOU HAVE JUST LISTENED TO HER but aside from that i cried so hard for uriah he was my favorite i loved him so much asdfghjkl but now he's reunited with marlene *breaks down sobbing*
  • im prettty sure more people die but they're insignificant
  • wait for it
  • drumroll please
  • annddd the final death is:
  • TRIS
  • *pindrop silence*
  • i kid you not
  • yes veronica roth ACTUALLY KILLED TRIS
  • YUP
  • i cried so so so so so so so hard for this not only for tris but also becausE TOBIAS MY POOR POOR TOBIAS WHAT IS HE GOING TO DO THEY LOVED EACH OTHER SO MUCH SHE WAS EVERYTHING TO HIM AND THEY HAD SO MANY UPS AND DOWNS AND I CANNOT THEY WERE SO PERFECT UGGGHHHH WHY DOES SHE DIE

so that's pretty much it if you want a summary of allegiant then go here because this post is getting too long already.

My overall opinion:

i can't even rate this book out of ten because half of me wants to say -29137491203784610827346/10 and the other half wants to say 29137491203784610827346/10. it was amazingly well written (as always) and i loved how four and tris both got perspectives and it was so complicated and beautiful and then of course fourtris was a huge part of the book (but of course she had to do that because of her wonderful surprise ending because that's what authors do they play with your emotions, make you laugh and cry and smile for their characters, they get your hopes up, and then theY SMASH THEM ON THE GROUND (SO CASUALLY CRUEL IN THE NAME OF BEING HONEST)  but the ending was, in its own way, perfect because i swear NO ONE expected it to happen like at all and (if it hadnt been spoiled for me -_-) i wouldnt have believed it at first because whO KILS THEIR MAIN CHARACTER EVEN RICK RIORDAN, JK ROWLING, AND SUZANNE COLLINS DIDNT DO THAT.  but i cried so much in this book and itS JUST NOT FAIR WHY CAN'T SHE LET THEM BE HAPPY THEY WENT THROUGH SO MUCH  and idk they were never perfect, and they fought more than any OTP i've ever had but they loved each other (that was a reference to this book by the way) and after all of the stuff they had to go through its nOT FAIR THAT THEY COULDN'T EVEN BE HAPPY TOGETHER THEY DESERVED IT. and all the fighting and making up and promises that they had all led up to THIS AND WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY. and also towards the end, after tris dies, veronica was subtly trying to make christina and tobias a thing and i saw it and i was like nope nope nope nOPE NOPENOPENOPENOPE THATS NOT HAPPENING THAT'S NEVER HAPPENING IT CAN'T HAPPEN I WONT LET IT IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN because Four and Tris and Will and Christina were fine together but you cannot just kill half of each ship and then shove them together it DOESNT WORK LIKE THAT and i never shipped it i will never shipped it its like my anti OTP and i do not ship them one bit not at all its not fair she can't just smash our hopes and dreams for fourtris and then oN TOP OF THAT TRY AND PUT FOUR WITH CHRISTINA THAT IS BEYOND HEARTLESS.

so that pretty much it

and here's a picture of the cover (it's really really pretty isnt it)

Looking For Alaska, by John Green

soooOo i borrowed this book from +Josh Xu bc i have been meaning to read it for monnthhss but i could never find a copy so then +Josh Xu was a very nice person and let me borrow it on the condition that i  made a blog post about it which i was going to do anyway but still this post is dedicated to/requested by +Josh Xu

Summary:

so basically there's this boy names Miles (but he is called Pudge for the majority of the book because he is skinny) and his life is hella boring and so he decides to go to this boarding school in alabama called Culver Creek and there he meets his room mate Chip (but he is called the Colonel for most of the book) and "gorgeous sexy funny screwed up self destructive something and endlessly fascinating Alaska Young" and she is kind of perfect. except she has a boyfriend named jake and i like him too. so they go there and Pudge takes this class called World Religions and there's a bunch of metaphorical stuff that relates to his life and for most of the year he, the Colonel, and Alaska smoke and drink and play pranks and generally do stuff you're not supposed to do at boarding school but that the boarding school experience wouldn't really be complete without. so Pudge gets to know alaska better and he falls in love with her because how could he help it. but alaska is weird and moody and some days she'll be funny and laughing and sarcastic and some days she'll be depressed and sad and angry and stuff.

spoilers so dont read ahead unless you want to

so basically its because her mom died when she was little. and then one day the Colonel is drunk and alaska is very very very drunk and miles is mostly sober and they are playing truth or dare and the alaska kisses pudge and then she's like OH CRAP and she's crying and she leaves to go somewhere but because she's very very very very very drunk she hits a cop car and dies.

so that was mostly predictable (like the dying part not the how) but the next part is very very very very spoiler so do not read okay unless you already read the book

and so basically the last half of the book is Colonel and Pudge and Takumi and Lara (other friends) trying to figure out what happened and why she ran away and did she commit suicide or what. and basically what happened is that every year on that day at the exact time her mother died, she goes and puts flowers on her grave but she forgot so she was rushing to go do that.

Ships:

  • Alaska and Jake - i kind of ship it but like alaska also kissed Pudge while she was dating Jake so i mean kind of but eh we didn't really get to see much of Jake in the book so idk
  • Miles and Alaska - i ship it but at the same time they're so different like alaska is all BAM and miles is all ehhh so i kind of
  • Lara and Miles - ehhh its okay i liked Lara tho and i want her to be happy so i guess i shipped it but ehhh
  • is there even anything else I don't think so

My overall opinion:

10/10 omg I loved it it was so heartbreakingly beautiful and I loved Alaska so much and asdfghjkl. it was (as is the case with everything written by John green) so absolutely amazingly well written and I loved it so much. surprisingly I didn't cry that much (just like a little after she died and that's it) but I was really sad and it was so perfect and as much as I wish she hasn't died because I loved her she kind of had to otherwise there would have been no plot but just everything about it was so sad and perfect and asdfghhjkl.  and their pranks were amazing omg I died laughing. and yeah. just read the book.

yeah its pretty

btw +Josh Xu  is literally the only one who requested anything and you know you can request stuff cuz sooner or later im going to run out of books

The Host - Stephenie Meyer

okay so i actually read this book a few weeks ago after procrastinating for like a year. and yeah it was actually much much much MUCH better than i was expecting it to be considering twilight and stuff

**sidenote: i know everyone either loves loves loves twilight or hates it with their enitre existence. i read the books and they weren't that bad, they just didnt really have that much of a plot and bella irritates me so much omg asdfghjkl she's so DUMB LIKE JESUS LORD WOMAN GOD GAVE YOU BRAINS TO USE NOT SO YOU CAN FOLLOW YOUR IMMORTAL VAMPIRE BOYFRIEND EVERYWHERE AND HANG ON HIS EVERY WORD. but anywayyy. jacob was awesome but then he went and fell in love with bellas kid whILE BELLA WAS STILL PREGNANT and that irritated me but at the same time im glad he got over bella at least. anyway this side note is kind of long so bye**

anyway i dont own a copy of the book but here's a picture of the cover:

and heres a picture of the movie poster (i haven't seen the movie yet)

(melanie is really pretty omg)

Summary:

Earth is being invaded by aliens who posses human bodies and kill the actual soul that was inside it before. so when the book starts, there are very few humans still left on earth that are "un-possessed." the story is told from the POV of an alien named Wanderer (wanda) who possesses a girl (Melanie) who was a part of the resistance force thing. the reason she was put in Melanie's body is because the aliens want to get the information about where the rebels are hiding from her brain. but theeennn Melanie's soul doesn't go away, and she's purposely hiding the information from Wanda, and then she and Wanda start talking to each other. At first Wanda hates Melanie and wants her to go away, but then they start getting attached to each other. Also, their emotions start blending together so Wanda starts feeling the same emotion for Melanie's boyfriend Jared (who is hiding with the rebels) and then Wanda decides to go and look for Jared. So they go and find the rebels and then at first the rebels think Wanda is there to trick them but then they start becoming friends with her. however some of the rebels aren't happy with it, and one of them tries to kill her, but she survives. and then the aliens notice that Wanda has gone missing and there's this one psycho alien that's obsessed with her and thinks she's a traitor (which she is but still) and so basically they learn how to take the alien souls out of human bodies and send them to other planets without killing them, and sometimes, the human soul comes back.

My Overall Opinion:

9/10 i really liked the book overall, especially how it was written from Wanda's POV but it wasnt like amazingly well written (like it wasnt bad but it wasnt like mind blowing either) The story was interesting and unique and melanie didnt bother me thaatt much but mostly because she barely said anything it was mostly Wanda. i liked wanda (mostly) and i also liked jared a lot (i shipped him and melanie so hard) and i also shipped ian and wanda and i wish that could have happened. i liked how it ended without too many people dying too. i didn't like how they didn't tell you what happens to the rest of the world though. like she only resolved the love story (taylor swift reference) but even though they meet the other group of rebels, you dont know whether they kick the alien souls off of earth or if they learn to live in harmony or what so that bothered me slightly.

if you actually read all of that, thank you ily. feel free to request a book review in the comments if you want :)

Legend, Marie Lu

so Legend by Marie Lu is a dystopian "fight the power" kind of book (like Divergent and The Hunger Games) and i know that those books are really popular right now and there's a lot of them but this one really is amazing i love it so much asdfghjkl. its a trilogy (Legend, Prodigy, and Champion) (i havent read Champion yet though ): ) and yeah. (this post was requested by +Josh Xu btw.)

Summary:

(its been a while since ive read this book so instead of me writing a lame and probably inaccurate summary here is the inside cover)
What was once the western United States is now home to the Republic, a nation perpetually at war with its neighbors. Born into an elite family in one of the Republic’s wealthiest districts, fifteen-year-old June is a prodigy being groomed for success in the Republic’s highest military circles. Born into the slums, fifteen-year-old Day is the country’s most wanted criminal. But his motives may not be as malicious as they seem.

From very different worlds, June and Day have no reason to cross paths – until the day June’s brother, Metias, is murdered and Day becomes the prime suspect. Caught in the ultimate game of cat and mouse, Day is in a race for his family’s survival, while June seeks to avenge Metias’s death. But in a shocking turn of events, the two uncover the truth of what has really brought them together, and the sinister lengths their country will go to keep its secrets.
Full of nonstop action, suspense, and romance, this novel is sure to move readers as much as it thrills.

My overall opinion:

9/10. its amazing omg. i ship june and day so hard asdfghjkl. and its really suspenseful and its very very very well written and i love the switching perspectives. and also marie lu doesnt kill that many people *cough* jk rowling *cough cough cough* what who said that not me i didnt say anything what are you talking about. anyway. yeah just read the book. this isnt a very interesting blog post im sorry about that.

anyway here's my copy:

The Fault in our Stars, by John Green

okay so the books that im reading atm aren't really that post-worthy so im going to blog about some of my favorite books that i've already read. so im going to be talking about The Fault in our Stars, which is one of my most favoritest (yes that's a word dont argue with me this is my blog) books ever asdfghjkl its so perfect and heartbreaking and funny and beautiful and asdfghjkl. "Sometimes, you read a book and it fills you with this weird evangelical zeal, and you become convinced that the shattered world will never be put back together unless and until all living humans read the book." thats the kind of book this is. (if you thought that was too deep for me to have written then 1. thanks for your faith in my writing skills and 2. you're right i didnt write it, thats a quote from this book) if you havent read it yet stop reading this right now, turn off your computer or ipod or whatever, and read it. now. you have to. okay? okay. <- lol that was a reference to this book hahahahaha im so funny i crack myself up (that was sarcasm but yeah it was pretty genius)
so anyway. this book isnt part of a series, and its by john green (the most amazing perfect hilarious genius person to ever walk this earth ever... like ever) (that was a taylor swift reference to those of you who understood that) and yeah hes just kind of the best. so anyway heres the book cover:
and yeah. so since its not a series theres no background info or ship updates *tears* yes i know its so sad but now im going to tell you what its about and if you havent already then you hAVE TO READ IT OKAY? OKAY. (lol i did it again) like i told alisha to read it like last month and she still hasnt finished it because its "boring" but she's wroNG OKAY? OKAY.(omg guys im so good at this) so anwyay dont be an alisha.read the book. okay? okay. (im on a roll guys)

 Summary:

so the book is written from the perspective of a girl named Hazel Grace, and she has lung cancer and basically her lungs keep filling up with fluid and she has to carry this little cart with oxygen in it around everywhere. so she meets this boy named Augustus Waters (i love him okay? okay. (again!!!)  <3) and he had cancer but now he's all better but he has a fake leg and you know what happens next hint hint wink wink nudge nudge and so basically they bond over this book by Peter van Houten called An Imperial Affliction. and then

SPOILER ALERT EVEN THOUGH I TOLD YOU TO STOP READING AT THE BEGINNING OF THIS POST IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK YET BUT IF YOU'RE ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE THAT THINKS THEY'RE TOO COOL FOR RULES THEN THINK AGAIN CUZ NOT ON MY BLOG YOU'RE NOT SO IF YOU ARE STILL READING I DONT KNOW WHAT EXACTLY YOU THINK YOU'RE ACCOMPLISHING. GO. READ. NOW.

they go to amsterdam to meet him and he actually turns out to be a drunken arrogant obnoxious little jerk but that's besides the point because then when they come back augustus tells hazel that actually he has cancer that is significantly worse than her cancer (even though before this they both kind of assumed that hazel would die first cuz hers was worse but actually it seems like that was not the case) and that is most likely probably going to kill him. so they spend a bunch of time together and then augustus dies and yeah actually its not a very eventful book that's pretty much it.

My overall opinion

overall its 2384659823045/10 yoU HAVE TO READ IT. and yeah my favorite character would either be isaac cuz hes so funny omg i love him or augustus because hes also really funny and because he's so sarcastic and sometimes he just has these deep thoughts and yeah augustus waters is a beautiful person whY DOES HE HAVE TO DIE. the story isnt amazingly geniusly unique or anything but its so incredibly well written (john green is a genius) and its DEEP MAN. LIKE EXISTENTIAL PONDERINGS DEEP. and speeeaaking of deepness depth this book is probably the most quotable (omg thats a word i didnt know that. well im guessing its a word since spell check didnt have a problem with it) book ever and some of my favorite quotes come from it.
fun fact: the books title is based on this quote:
"Men at some time are masters of their fates
The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars
but in ourselves, that we are underlings"
-Shakespeare, Julius Caesar

(thats probably not in correct quote format and stuff im sorry mr rossow (dishonor on me, dishonor on my family, dishonor on my cow)(mulan reference)) wow thats a lot of parentheses that looks confusing but im not going to fix it cuz yall are smart enough to figure it out.
but you would know that if you'd already read the book so if you're reading this right now YOU SHOULD ALREADY KNOW THAT. (dont try and trick me i know everything i see everything this is my blog) and yeah so here are my favorite ones from this book (in no particular order)
  •  I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, and then all at once.
  •  My thoughts are stars I cannot fathom into constellations
  •  "That's the thing about pain," Augustus said, and then glanced back at me. "It demands to be felt"
  •   "I'm in love with you, and I'm not in the business of denying myself the simple pleasure of saying true things. I'm in love with you, and I know that love is just a shout into the void, and that oblivion is inevitable, and that we're all doomed and that there will come a day when all our labor has been returned to dust, and I know the sun will swallow the only earth we'll ever have, and I am in love with you.”
  •  Some infinities are bigger than other infinities.
  • The marks humans leave are too often scars.
  •  The world is not a wish-granting factory.
  •  Grief does not change you, Hazel. It reveals you
  •  Augustus Waters was a self-aggrandizing bastard. But we forgive him. We forgive him not because he had a heart as figuratively good as his literal one sucked, or because he knew more about how to hold a cigarette than any nonsmoker in history, or because he got eighteen years when he should've gotten more.'
    'Seventeen,' Gus corrected.
'I'm assuming you've got some time, you interupting bastard.
'I'm telling you,' Isaac continued, 'Augustus Waters talked so much that he'd interupt you at his own funeral. And he was pretentious: Sweet Jesus Christ, that kid never took a piss without pondering the abundant metaphorical resonances of human waste production. And he was vain: I do not believe I have ever met a more physically attractive person who was more acutely aware of his own physical attractiveness.
'But I will say this: When the scientists of the future show up at my house with robot eyes and they tell me to try them on, I will tell the scientists to screw off, because I do not want to see a world without him.'
I was kind of crying by then
  • You are so busy being YOU that you have no idea how utterly unprecedented you are.
  • It's a metaphor, see: You put the killing thing right between your teeth, but you don't give it the power to do its killing.
  • But it is the nature of stars to cross, and never was Shakespeare more wrong than when he has Cassius note, ‘The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars / But in ourselves.
  • There is no shortage of fault to be found amid our stars.
  • But, in fact, depression is not a side effect of cancer. Depression is a side effect of dying.
  • And I wondered if hurdlers ever thought, you know, 'This would go faster if we just got rid of the hurdles.

and then of course:
  • Okay? Okay.
and many many more that i am far far far too lazy to add.
yeah i know thats a lot but they're good quotes and they're all hipstery and deep and yeah
so if you're still reading this and you still haven't read the book
  1.  i hope you will soon because it really is amazing and yes i did cry a lot when i was reading this (i haVE NO SHAME)
  2. you're a rule breaker. i like you.
  3. now get off my blog and start reading. okay? okay. (laST TIME I SWEAR)
and heres a picture of my copy:

loOOK ITS SIGNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JOHN GREEN SIGNED MY BOOK!!! THAT MEANS HE HAS PHYSICALLY TOUCHED MY BOOOOKK AND BY DOING SO ACKNOWLEDGED ITS EXISTENCE AND THEREFORE INDIRECTLY ACKNOWLEDGED MY EXISTENCE!!!!!! but i wasnt there when it was signed it was bought like that by my wonderful amazing friend maryam who gave it to me for my birthday (thank you maryam ily)

^and there is another genius quote of his to end this post.
 it is isnt it.

If you have a request for a blog post, feel free to ask for it in the comments :) (note: it may take me a while because i may not have read the book yet) (but i probably have)

House of Hades, Heroes of Olympus Book 4, by Rick Riordan

So house of hades came out last week and asdfghjkl. its the fourth book in the heroes of olympus series, (The Lost Hero, The Son of Neptune, The Mark of Athena, and The House of Hades) which is a continuation of the percy jackson and the olympians books. and in case you havent already noticed im kind of a little bit slightly obsessed with them.
see look at the beautiful cover isnt he a genius

anyway.

im not going to do a background info for the percy jackson and the olympians series (only the heroes of olympus series) just because thats a lot of work and also im assuming yall have read that and if you havent dear youre missing out on one of the best parts of life

Background Info

After the demigods win the battle with the Titans, Rachel Elizabeth Dare (idk i just like using her full name)  (the oracle of delphi) delivers this prophecy
Seven half- bloods will answer the call
To storm or fire the world must fall
An oath to keep with a final breath
And foes bear arms to the Doors of Death
(did i mention hes a genius)
The halfbloods (Jason - son of Jupiter, Leo (my personal favorite i love leo okay) - son of Hephaestus, Piper - daughter of Aphrodite, Percy - son of Poseidon, Annabeth - daughter of Athena, Hazel Levesque - daughter of Pluto, and Frank Zhang - son of Mars) and also Nico di Angelo (hes my very very very close second favorite i love nico so much afhoiskjld) - son of Hades (even though hes not part of the prophecy he comes with them) are on a quest to close the Doors of Death (the doors to Tartarus which keep the dead monsters and demons and stuff dead - at least temporarily) Their main enemies are Gaea (the oldest goddess, the Earth Mother) and the giants. When The Mark of Athena ends, Percy and Annabeth have been thrown in to Tartarus (COMPLETELY UNFAIR OF RICK BTW BECAUSE WHO DOES THAT. LIKE HEYY IM GONNA THROW YOUR OTP IN TO TARTARUS AND LOL OKEI YOU WONT KNOW WHAT HAPPENS UNTIL NEXT FALL HAHAHAH *forced laughing* oh. youre. so. funny. haha. rick. im. laughing. so. hard. *sobbing*) and the rest of them are on the Argo II  and going to Greece. They're supposed to meet up with Percy and Annabeth  at the Doors of Death.

(side note - he also added a dedication in the beginning of this book that went like this:
To my wonderful readers:
Sorry about that last cliff - hanger.
Well no, not really. HAHAHAHA.
But seriously, I love you guys.
um do you thINK THAT EVEN BEGINS TO COVER THE AMOUNT OF EMOTIONAL STRESS WE WERE UNDER DO YOU EVEN UNDERSTAND THAT WE ARE ALREADY EMOTIONALLY UNSTABLE YOU CANT JUST DO THIS TO US. )
SPOILER ALERT: DO NOT SCROLL BEYOND THIS POINT IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE BOOK SEE IM TYPING THIS IN REALLY BIG FONT TO GET THE POINT ACROSS TRUST ME DONT DO IT

Ship update

  • Jason and Piper are still together :) :) :) and jason wants to go to CHB with piper after the war.
  • Hazel and Frank are too :) :)
  • PERCABETH ASDFGHJKL THEYRE SO CUTE I CANNOT EVEN
  • Nico's bisexual and he has a crush on Percy (i dont ship it because i always thought of percy as kind of a big brother to nico but then once bianca died he got all mature and grown up and he hid his emotions really well and i guess theyre okay but PERCABETH) (i mildly ship nico with leo because they both feel like the dont belong and nobody wants them and they have self esteem issues and stuff and they've both been through so much but theyre so different and the only problem is leo is creeped out by nico and also)
  • Leo meets Calypso and they start to like each other and leo promises he'll come back for her and asdfghjkl (tbh i just want leo to be happy and calypso does make him happy and thats good and im happy because seriously leo deserves to be happy and sometimes i just feel like giving him a huge hug and telling him dont worry everything will be okay in the end i have complete faith in Rick Riordan) (the amount of attraction i feel towards some of these characters scares me a little)

Summary:

this post is getting a bit long already so im just gonna tell you to go here because they have a really good summary.
WARNING THEY HAVE SPOILERS TOO OKAY

My Overall Opinion:

345678583468/10 it was so perfect asdfghjkl i cant. i loved loved loved the percabeth scenes of course. and i reeeaally especially loved Leo in this book because he's so funny and he's actually really sensitive but he hides it but in this one with calypso and everything he's starting to show it a little and asdfghjkl i love him. alssooo i loved Nico because he's like so insecure and he hates himself for being different but he's actually a really amazing person and also crucial to the mission but he's so sad and then jason was kind of insensitive when he was talking to him and nico was all sad and i was like come here nico its okay you just need a hug. (like i said. the amount of attraction for these characters scares me) and coach hedge is a daddy!!!! and idk that made me really happy. and also *round of applause for rick riordan* because he ended the book properly!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yay congratulations rick you learned  how to end a book without almost causing a mutiny in your own fandom!!!! (jk that was sarcasm i love you rick youre a genius and asdfghjkl) speaking of his geniusness the book was also absolutely amazingly written and i loved how everyone got POVs in it (i just kind of wish nico had gotten some)  and yeah this book was kind of completely perfect and while i do not want to wait an entire year to read the next one (The Blood of Olympus) its NOTHING compared to last time.
(thats my copy of the book. isnt it beautiful.)

If you have a request for a blog post, feel free to ask for it in the comments :) (note: it may take me a while because i may not have read the book yet) (but i probably have)

Fall of Five, Lorien Legacies Book 4, By Pittacus Lore

So today I'm going to be talking the 4th book in the Lorien legacies series, fall of five, by Pittacus Lore. The series (I am Number Four, The Power of Six, The Rise of Nine, The Fall of Five) is one of  my favorites ever... like... evER OMG.

Background info:

The series is about aliens from the planet Lorien, which was destroyed by another alien species, the Mogodorians (from planet Mogodore) Only 9 of the Loric survived, and they were put on a ship headed for Earth. Oh yeah, and they were toddlers when this happened. Each was accompanied by a Cepan, whose job is to protect their Garde member and train them so they would be ready to fight the Mogodorians and take back Lorien when the time came. There was also a curse placed on them that they would only be able to be killed in order of their numbers. Numbers One, Two, and Three have died when the first book begins. (hence the name I am Number Four)

Stuff you should probably know:

  • John is Four's human name (he prefers to go by that)
  • Marina is Seven's human name (same thing)
  • Malcolm, Sam's long lost - just found dad, was working with the Loric on Earth long before Sam and John became best friends (Coincidence? I THINK NOT)
  • In Rise of Nine, the Garde tried to fight Setrakus Ra and failed. (thankfully, no one died)
  • Each of the Garde have powers called Legacies, but each one has different powers. (For example: John can shoot light out of his hands, Eight can teleport, Marina can heal people, etc)
  • Setrakus Ra is the leader of the Mogodorian army on Earth
  • Each Loric has a Chest, with some special Loric stuff
  • There was a prophecy drawn on the walls of a cave in India that showed Eight getting killed. They thought this was talking about the time where Eight did die (during the battle with Setrakus) but was healed by Marina.
  • Pittacus Lore is an alias; there is a character in the series named Pittacus Lore, and he is Lorien's ruling Elder. (he's also dead)

Ship Update:

  • John and Sarah are still together, but John is starting to worry about what will happen after the battle.
  • Eight and Marina are starting to spend a lot of time together (hint hint wink wink nudge nudge)
  • Six rejects Sam because she knows there will be casualties, and "maybe if Sam were somewhere safe, it could be different" (really, Six?)

Synopsis of the book:

John, Sarah, Six, Marina, Eight, and Nine, are hiding out in New York, while Sam is rescued from the Mogs by his dad, and a traitor Mog named Adam. They are reunited again in New York, and then soon go on a mission to find Number Five. They find him in Arkansas, and bring him back to New York with them. Meanwhile, in New York, Ella's nightmares are getting worse, until they actually begin to think that the nightmares are  messages from Setrakus Ra. So now that they're all together, they start training to work as a team and trying to figure out how to use the items in their Chests, because they don't another incident like the last time they tried to fight Setrakus. Then Ella has a really bad nightmare, and she won't wake up. When John tries to touch her, he passes out too. While John and Ella are comatose, Six, Marina, Eight, Nine, and Five leave for Florida to recover Five's Chest.

SPOILER ALERT - if you haven't read it yet, and plan on reading it soon DON'T KEEP READING.

okay don't say i didn't warn you.

So they reach the island where Five claims his Chest is and they take it, but when they're about to leave, Five attacks them. (he wAS WORKING WITH THE MOGS D: ) He tries to convice Marina to join him, but she says no. (of course) He almost kills Six and Nine, and he acTUALLY KILLS EIGHT. :'( *moment of silence for Eight* (yes, Eight is dead, it works out like the propechy said it would after all) Marina gets really mad (obviously) and almost kills Five, then she, Six, and Nine leave.
Meanwhile, in New York, the penthouse is attacked by Mogs (because Five revealed their location) and with Ella and John still in a coma, Sarah, Sam, and Macolm (Sam's dad) are left to defend themselves. But then (thankfully) John wakes up, and Adam comes to save them (yay, he didn't die after all) and that's how it ends.

My overall opinion:

9/10
So over all, I really loved this book. I couldn't put it down (even though one of my friends ruined both of the big plot twists for me -_-) and it was really well written, just like the rest of the series. I do kind of wish that Eight hadn't been the one to die, though, because he was my favorite, and also I really wanted it to work out with him and Marina. But I was happy with John and Sarah, and I really want to know whether Sarah will come with John to Lorien or if John will stay on Earth with Sarah or if mysterious option C will hapen. ......um I don't really have much else to say except for wOW FIVE IS AN ARROGANT LITTLE JERK ISN'T HE.
